The brilliant Eric Doggett asked if he could take some pictures of our car.  Eric is a friend and an amazing photographer.

I didn't quite know what to expect. Eric rented a big giant flag and I went and met him up at the airport.

The results were amazing and we captured the sort of over the top, tongue-in-cheek, stuff that I love. Eric's dedication to his craft is something to behold and he has an amazing eye.

Despite his subject matter, (well the car is cool), he managed to get some amazing photos in just a few hours.

On top of that, it was a blast.  I cant recommend Eric enough.

You can read more about it on Eric's blog:

I got a new sketchbook. It has brown paper. I use white out to make white things. Got that idea from the Drink and Draw guy books. It is fun.

Paris Trip

Mandy, Powerhouse Animation Art Director: Sam Deats, and Powerhouse Animator and Sam's brother: Adam; went to Paris to see Stephen Silver's show at the Gallery Arludik.

I had visited the Arludik in 2008 and helped connect Stephen and Dianne to get the ball rolling.  If you don't know Stephen's work, we connected while working with Kevin Smith's Clerks property but he is also known for his work on Kim Possible, Danny Phantom and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.  He is a super guy and his work is fantastic.  He also helped me with a Captain Capitalism redesign a while back.

Stephen ended up sketching caricatures of visitors to gallery.

We got to hang out with Stephen's family including is wife Heidi.

Stephen had some really cool pieces in the show including this boxing painting that I coveted.

We ended up getting this piece which was featured on the poster for the show.

The gallery opening included work by artist Scott Campbell, with Adam, Sam and I.  His work is really genius and you should check it out.

Here is Stephen with the Gallery director Diane and a gentleman who purchased one of Stephen's pieces.

We also got to explore Paris with the Deats brothers and I hope they came home inspired by the trip.  This is Sam with a store that bears his name.

Hopefully everyone had a good time and isn't too jet-lagged.  See you soon.

New website

I finally bit the bullet and re-did the Captain Capitalism website.  Despite being a Flash cartoon, it was time to make the site an HTML based site so that it was visible on smart phones and tablets.  Thanks to Jackie over at Webii for helping out on everything.  I highly recommend Webii, they have been hosting the Powerhouse and Captain Capitalism sites for years, and Jackie did the HTML on the new version.

The site now features links to the other projects I have been working on, and makes it easier to find me on the social networking sites.

I just got back from a trip to San Francisco which you can learn all about on the Powerhouse blog.  In April I will be going to Paris to see Stephen Silver's gallery opening at the Arludik, and will definitely be sharing lots of things from that trip.

I spoke at SXSW last week about Powerhouse's involvement with a Hobo with a Shotgun iphone game...

Check out the new site, and see ya soon.

Powerhouse Animation World Tour

My favorite project from this year.

The idea behind it is to send it to ad agencies with their names and cities in the song, in a tongue-in-cheek kind of way.

Like so:
